Amazon’s merchant platform in India now supports the Chinese language, reports Ebrun, lowering the barriers to entry for Chinese merchants to sell to India. Previously, the Amazon Seller Platform in India only supported English.

Amazon first expanded into India in June 2013 and began opening to third-party vendors outside of India in 2018. It commanded 30% of India’s market last year, according to Citi Research estimates.

Indian e-commerce is forecasted to reach USD 40-45 billion (RMB 293 billion) by the end of 2020, driven by rising internet penetration, payment options, and better delivery infrastructure.  And the number of online buyers is expected to more than double from about 85 million in 2017 to 190 million in 2020, according to Barclays estimates.
