Singaporean mobile marketplace Carousell appointed former Property Guru chief business officer Lewis Ng as its chief commercial officer.
Ng will take charge of all of Carousell’s commercial relationships from high-value verticals, advertising sales, and go-to-market partnerships, and is tasked with accelerating the company’s revenue growth in Southeast Asia.
Ng has previously held positions at companies like TripAdvisor and Property Guru, giving him a deep understanding of the classified space and related business verticals.
In an official press statement, Carousell highlights Ng’s experience in high-value verticals like cars and property, suggesting that attracting an experienced operator in this area will spur the company’s growth in the region.
The seven-year-old startup recently closed a USD 56 million fundraising round with Naspers, acquiring OLX Philippines in the process. Plans are underway for Carousell to grow its top line in the Philippines and Hong Kong, while simultaneously staying focused on its monetization strategies in Singapore and elsewhere in the region. The company also has operations in Malaysia, Indonesia, Taiwan, and Australia.
