Shanghai-based startup Hello Chuxing, which provides shared bikes and ride-sharing services, has started to test delivery services in Dongguan and Fosan, two cities in southern China’s Guangdong province, Chinese media outlet Jiemian reported on Tuesday.

Drivers registered on Hello Chuxing can deliver packages weighing less than 30kg for a distance up to 500 kilometers.

Hello Chuxing was rebranded from bike-sharing company Hello Bike in September 2018. By the end of March, the company’s shared bikes have gained more than 300 million users in more than 360 cities while its ride-sharing services have connected more than 14 million drivers and served more than 45 million passengers, Jiemian said, citing official data.

Hello Chuxing’s venture into the logistics sector comes at a time when ride-hailing and bike-sharing demand has felt a crunch from the COVID-19 pandemic, but home delivery demand has gained a boost.
