Kuaishou recently launched a short-video app dubbed “Snack Video,” on Google Play Store to target the overseas market, local media TechPlanetreported on Monday.

The app’s interface shares similarities to TikTok, with a full-screen auto-play video feed and a black background. Users can also upload videos up to 57 seconds, discover other posts shared by users nearby, follow uploaders they find interesting, and chat in the app, TechPlanetwrote.

According to Chinese industry data vendor Qichacha, a Beijing-based company named Beijing Dajia Internet Information Technology, where Kuaishou’s founder Cheng Yixiao serves as a supervisor, has been applying for copyrightsrelated to Snack Video’s icon since April 13.

Kuaishou, also known as Kwai, is ByteDance’s Douyin’s main rival in China. In February, it announced that the number of daily active users (DAUs) surpassed 300 million. However, Douyin (marketed as TikTok overseas), reported 400 million DAUs as of January, KrASIA reported.
