China’s on-demand service giant Meituan Dianping has signed a strategic partnership agreement with state-owned carrier China Telecom, local tech media Techweb reported on Friday.

The agreement will see both parties cooperating in six major sectors including 5G technology, internet of things (IoT), new retail channels, enterprise services, artificial intelligence, and capital management.

Among the outcomes, the two companies will jointly launch a 5G mobile plan, where users can enjoy special offers from Meituan’s services including food delivery, entertainment, and bike-sharing.

The collaboration between Meituan and China Telecom will be mutually beneficial, as both companies can take advantage of their large user bases and abundant resources to roll out more innovations and satisfy more customers, Meituan’s co-founder Mu Rongjun said.
