E-scooter sharing is picking up steam in Southeast Asia.

Neuron Mobility, an e-scooter sharing startup, announced today raising SG$5 million (US$3.6 million) in a seed round led by SeedPlus with participation from 500 Startups, SEEDS Capital, ACE Capital, angel investors, and family offices.

The funding will be used to accelerate its overseas expansion and the development of the next generation of e-scooters.

Neuron Mobility also plans to develop a UL certificate-compliant and commercial-grade electronic scooter. The company claims that one of its advantages is having a proprietary supply chain for its scooters, which gives them better control over manufacturing and enables quicker scale up.

It has launched the scooter-sharing service earlier this year in two Thai cities: Bangkok and Chiang Mai. It also plans to launch its service in Malaysia in December, it says in a press statement.

“This latest funding allows us to apply our experience in operating in Singapore and Thailand, and expand our services to the wider Asian region, giving commuters a sustainable personal mobility solution,” Neuron Mobility CEO Zachary Wang said.

Earlier this week, Neuron Mobility announced a partnership with Thailand’s Sansiri Public Company Limited, after launching in Bangkok.
