Indonesian digital content platform Narasi TV has reportedly received fresh capital from Go-Ventures, the corporate venture capital arm of ride-hailing player Go-Jek, according to Dealstreet Asia report citing anonymous sources.

Narasi TV was started in 2017 by local broadcast journalist Najwa Shihab who is best known for her popular TV talk show Mata Najwa, which is now discontinued. Content on her new digital platform ranges from talk shows hosted by Shihab, musical performances, political discussions, to film reviews.

Through Go-Ventures, which was set up as early as May 2018, the Indonesian O2O firm has been able to pump in more capital in creating synergies within the digital and media space. The VC arm had also made an investment in online news platform Kumparan, which we reported on earlier this month.

Takeaways

— Go-Jek continues to back digital media startups and has announced plans to eventually open its own video subscription service Go-Play and film company Go-Studios

— Go-Jek had also recently acquired adtech company Promogo which serves ads to passengers in vehicles. In a way, the company could leverage the content on Narasi TV to build up a database of entertainment and news to engage passengers as well as understand consumer habits and preferences.
