Peter Shearer, the founder of Indonesian offline-to-online platform Wahyoo, has confirmed to KrASIA the rumored acquisition of local online store directory platform Alamat.com.

The report was first published by Daily Social. According to the report, Alamat’s site and apps are no longer accessible. The publication also noted that Alamat’s two co-founders Daniel Cahyadi and Michael Diharja have joined Wahyoo as COO and CTO, respectively.

The two startups share a similar mission: to support local SMEs and help them scale up their businesses with digital innovation.

Founded in 2018, Alamat allowed users to discover offline lifestyle service merchants around them, helping them make informed decisions through organic reviews and ratings by customers. It also facilitated payments by collaborating with GoPay. On the merchant side, Alamat offered digital solutions to help small and medium enterprises (SMEs) grow their businesses by leveraging on consumer data.

Meanwhile, Wahyoo supports warteg partners by equipping them with a mobile app, where they can purchase goods at competitive prices and manage business operations more professionally. The Alamat acquisition is in line with Wahyoo’s strategic plan this year to collaborate with more partners, including fellow tech startups.

In a previous interview with KrASIA, Shearer said that Wahyoo has worked with more than 13,000 wartegs across Greater Jakarta and he aims to have at least 50,000 warteg partners by the end of this year. The startup is backed by Agaeti Ventures, Kinesys Group, and East Ventures, and it is currently fundraising for its Series A round that is expected to close soon, Shearer said.
