Short videos have become a powerful tool for China’s internet users to “kill” their time. By June 2020, the average daily consumption time for short video content per user has hit 110 minutes, according to the 2020 research report on the development of the online audiovisual industry in China, released on October 12.

After surpassing the daily average usage time of instant messaging, short video is now the most used internet category.

As of June 2020, there are 818 million short video users in China, said the report.
