Thailand-headquartered fashion e-commerce startup Pomelo said Lazada’s former chief marketing officer (CMO), Jean Thomas joined the company in its latest round of strategic hiring.
At Pomelo, Thomas will assume the same title as he had back at Lazada. As newly-appointed CMO he will lead Pomelo’s marketing teams to grow the brand across the region.
Thomas was appointed CMO at Lazada Singapore in January this year after the company integrated RedMart onto its platform.
Prior to Lazada, Thomas was CMO at Motion Global, an e-commerce company for designer glasses as well as at Vinomofo, an Australian wine vending startup.
Pomelo has been aggressively beefing up its management team since its Series B round in 2017. The fashion e-commerce startup has recruited Jim Boland, the former chief financial officer of RedMart and Cathriona Nolan who was previously the AVP of Brand Marketing previously at Burberry and Vorada Hiransomboon.
The JD.com-backed fashion e-commerce site recently positioned itself as a socially conscious startup to stand out from other major e-commerce players in the region. It launched its first sustainable fashion line called Purpose and claims to be the first major online fashion brand in the region to do so.
