RISE, the tech conference produced by Dublin-based Web Summit, has teamed up with the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) in a partnership to host its conference in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in March 2022.
The event will take place as an in-person conference in Kuala Lumpur, after being hosted in Hong Kong for five consecutive years.
“We are always looking to find the best homes for our events. We’ve built the best tech conference in the world in Lisbon and now have the certainty that comes with a 10-year deal and an incredible venue,” said RISE and Web Summit CEO Paddy Cosgrave.
RISE is a platform for developers, engineers, investors, and journalists to connect and features talks from experts in data science, artificial intelligence, finance, and auto tech, among others.
The conference also gives startups an audience to introduce their products or services to. Companies that have exhibit at the event include Google, KPMG, Booking.com, BMW, Cisco, and Atlassian.
The conference has also hosted speakers like Joseph Tsai, co-founder and executive vice chairman at Alibaba, Jean Liu, president at Didi Chuxing, and Tan Hooi Ling, co-founder of Grab.
Web Summit also runs a conference of the same name and plans on expanding the event to Latin America. It is said to return as a massive in-person event in Lisbon in 2021, with about 70,000 attendees plus 80,000 online participants.
