Suning.com, one of China’s major retailers with both online and offline presences, confirmed with Chinese online news portal Sinathat it’s discussing a collaboration with Huawei, which would include selling Huawei’s brand new smart TVs.
Huawei, known as a smartphone and telecom equipment maker, recently had two types of LCD TV sets certified in China. The launch of Huawei’s first-ever smart TV sets has been highly anticipated by the industry.
Suning said that there’ll be an official announcement about this in the next few days.
Huawei’s smart TV sets might be very close to becoming available for shoppers. It makes sense to launch them now. June is an important month for retailers in China. Alibaba’s Tmall, JD.com, and Pinduoduo have all already rolled out various promotional measures to compete for consumers’ money.
Huawei initially said it expected to unveil them in April, setting an annual sales target of 10 million units, KrAsia reported.
