Singapore-based media network TechStorm said on Thursday that it has closed its oversubscribed Series A funding round, backed by “international business heavyweights” such as Gryphus Capital CEO Jason Chen, Singaporean businessman Wong Poh Kam and several unnamed angel investors as well as family offices. Its earlier pre-Series A round included tech venture capital firm Majuven.

TechStorm also announced that it has now passed 100 platform partners spread across nine Asian countries, the most recent being Malaysian direct-to-home (DTH) platform Sirius TV.

“2020 has been an explosive year of growth despite challenges from the global pandemic,” said founder Debbie Lee in a statement.

In June 2020, the company spread its wings into the Cambodian market through a partnership with the country’s major telco and subscription television provider SingMeng Telemedia. Six months later, TechStorm made its landmark debut in Taiwan.

Launched in March 2019, TechStorm is currently available to more than 43 million viewers in Asia and its contents are distributed across more than 32 million mobile over-the-top (OTT) and household subscribers. The company provides content from various categories including e-sports, tech, and entrepreneurship.
