The rape allegation case brought against JD.com founder Liu Qiangdong, also known as Richard Liu, will be heard in the Minnesota Hennepin Civil court in the United States in September, according to public records from the court.
JD.com and its founder fell into a crisis after police arrested Richard Liu on rape charges in August during a business trip to the US. The prosecutors later declined to bring Liu to a criminal court, but the woman pressing charges, a University of Minnesota student who met Liu during that trip, proceeded to file a civil case against him and his company in April.
JD.com has not responded to KrAsia’s request for a comment.
